Villa Ca' Prigioni

Getting There

Villa Ca' Prigioni is located in Quinto Vicentino, just a short distance from the historic city of Vicenza in the North-East of Italy.

For our friends and family traveling from Ireland, we recommend flying into one of the following airports. We suggest making a holiday of it and arriving a few days early to explore the region!

  • Venice Marco Polo (VCE): The main international hub, about 50 minutes by car.
  • Venice Treviso (TSF): Small airport, very popular for Ryanair flights, it's about a 60-minute drive. No flights from Ireland.
  • Verona Villafranca (VRN): A small, very convenient airport about 50 minutes to the West.
  • Milan Bergamo (BGY): Usually has the cheapest flights but is further away (approx. 1 hour 40 minutes drive).

Car Rental: Having a car is the best way to see the Veneto countryside. We recommend Sicily by Car as a reliable and reasonably priced local rental company. It is possible to book car rental with Sicily by Car using a debit card rather than credit card (extra charges apply). Reservations are cheaper when using the Sicily by Car app, when using the promo code APPXALL.

Trains: If you aren't renting a car immediately, the Italian rail network is fantastic. You can take a train to Vicenza station from any of the major cities (Venice, Verona, Treviso) and grab a short taxi from there.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation available at Villa Ca' Prigioni.

For those in need of accommodation, we recommend staying at Sweet Hotel. Prices are cheapest booking directly through the hotel website, but it can also be found on popular booking sites.

Transport from this hotel to the venue may be arranged for guests (details to follow).

Irish Traveler's Checklist

A few handy tips for our Irish guests to ensure a smooth trip:

  • The Plug: Italy uses Type L (three pins in a row) and Type C/F (two round pins). Your Irish three-pin plugs (Type G) will need an adapter.
  • Health: Don't forget to bring your EHIC (European Health Insurance Card). It’s free and covers you for necessary healthcare in public Italian hospitals.
  • Driving Etiquette:
    • They drive on the right (the wrong side!).
    • ZTL Zones: Watch out for 'Zona Traffico Limitato' signs in city centers (white circle with a red border). Entering these without a permit results in a heavy fine via CCTV.
    • Lights: It is mandatory to keep your dipped headlights on at all times when driving on motorways and main roads outside of towns.

Things to Do

There is so much to see in this corner of Italy. Here are our top picks:

Cities of Art

Venice: A 45-minute train ride takes you into the heart of the floating city. Perfect for a day trip.
Verona: Visit the Roman Arena and the famous Juliet’s balcony. It's a incredibly romantic city for a stroll.

The Seaside (Il Mare)

If you fancy a beach day, Jesolo and Bibione are the most famous coastal resorts nearby. Expect long sandy beaches, rows of colorful umbrellas, and great seafood restaurants.

The Mountains & Lakes

For some fresh air, head North to the Asiago Plateau (famous for its cheese!) or further into the Dolomites for breathtaking alpine views. Lake Garda is also just a short drive West if you prefer lakeside dining and boat trips.

Vicenza & Architecture

Explore Vicenza itself, a UNESCO site designed by the famous architect Palladio. Be sure to see the Teatro Olimpico and enjoy a 'Spritz' in the Piazza dei Signori.

Grappa and Wine

A visit to Bassano del Grappa is highly recommended. Walk across the iconic wooden bridge and try a 'Mezzo e Mezzo' at the Nardini distillery—it's the local ritual!

Santorini Caldera

Patrick and Silvia got engaged in Santorini, on the 17th of September, 2025. Exactly one year before the wedding.
